Long Distance Towing

There are few moments worse than when your car stalls far from home or in the middle of nowhere. What are you supposed to do then? You could call a friend or family member for help, but that will probably only be effective if your car troubles can be resolved by something as simple as a jumpstart. You’ll likely need the assistance of a long distance towing company.

Not every tow company offers long distance towing services. Some keep matters local, refusing to drive a long way or to transport a long way. MR Towing Services, on the other hand, executes both local and long distance towing.

Executing a long distance towing

Our fleet includes a number of flatbed tow trucks. Flatbeds are the type of trucks that specialize in long distance transportation. Why? Because they secure all four wheels on the bed, preventing damage to vehicle transmissions, drive chains, and tires. Two-wheel tow vehicles risk damage in such areas, especially if used for long distance transportation.

You also must consider wear and tear, and worsened damages during the towing process. Specific measures are taken to protect the vehicle being towed. The goal is to take a vehicle from point A to point B without damaging it whatsoever. If a vehicle is being towed as a result of an accident, the goal is then to transport the car without further damaging it.

Vehicles can even be covered while aboard a flatbed truck. This way nothing as much as a squashed bug can threaten the condition of your car.

It helps that we’re centrally located

Located in Dallas, TX, MR Towing Services isn’t too far away from any subsidizing cities. McKinney isn’t far, nor is Allen, Fort Worth, Richardson, Carrollton, or Plano. So, if your car breaks down somewhere within the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex, there’s a good chance we won’t be too far away.Long Distance Towing

It’s tough to find yourself in the middle of nowhere anywhere throughout North Texas, but there are a few desolate areas here and there. If you and your car are stranded in one of them, give us a call and we’ll get a tow truck out to you as soon as possible.

Availability is one of the most important aspects of a successful tow company. What good is a towing service that is not available? We aim to be available based on location and based on inventory. Ensuring the proper number of trucks, and types of trucks, are within are fleet is atop the priority list. We always want each type of truck to be available in order to avoid delays for customers.

While you are waiting…

Distance is out of our control. When we get a call, we’ll immediately get someone assigned to a tow. We’ll have someone in route very quickly, however, distance is distance. We can’t cut 25 miles into 10; that’s just not possible.
So, while you are waiting for a tow truck to arrive, you can execute a few safety precautions and gather a few bits of information. Let’s detail those…

  • Turn your hazard lights on
  • Keep away from the main road
  • Layout hazard triangles or road flames (if you have them)
  • Have your vehicle information ready

Day or night, do what you can to ensure your broken-down vehicle is seen by oncoming vehicles. The surest way to do this is through hazard triangles or road flares. You’ll often see these placed in front of a vehicle by tow companies while the process of boarding the vehicle is being carried out. Thus, it wouldn’t be a bad idea for you to get either type of safety equipment and store it in your car in case you need it.

Do all that you can to steer clear of the main road from which your car broke down. If you can get over to the shoulder or pull into a side lot, that would be ideal. Though, that’s easier said than done when a tire pops or an engine is smoking.

If you can pull onto the shoulder, exit the vehicle, but keep it in site. The goal is to protect yourself in case an oncoming car loses control off the road. Of course, inclement weather can prevent this, as can concerning surroundings. If you don’t feel comfortable exiting your car then stay in it. Just be sure to flip your hazards on so surrounding vehicles will be aware of your car.

What happens when the tow truck arrives?

It won’t take long to board the vehicle on the tow truck. It’s a delicate action, especially if the car was part of a moderate to severe accident. The good news is our staff members have towed hundreds of cars over the years, so they know how to get the job done safely and in a timely manner.

Once the car is securely in place, it’s on to the next destination. This is up to you, but we’ll provide input if you’d like. Your preferred shop is always an option. Just know that the tow will cost more if you are wanting your car towed a long distance.

If you are looking to save money on the tow, there’s a good chance a repair shop will be nearby. Depending on the area, we generally have experience with nearby shops. We can recommend a few to you as worthy options.

Really, it comes down to two possibilities…

  1. The car is towed to your preferred shop probably near your home. Thus, the tow will be more expensive, but you’ll have the comfort of vehicle repairs from a shop which you’ve used before. Also, you won’t have a long way to go to pick up your car once it is repaired.
  2. The car is towed to a nearby shop. This will save you money on the tow, but your car will be repaired by a shop which you are likely unfamiliar with. Though, our recommendations should stand strong.

Being stranded far from home is by no means an envied situation. But don’t panic, just call MR Towing Services! We will use our resources to ensure you get out of a bad situation in no time. We’ll do this through guidance, preparation, customer service and experience.
